1st Call Home care provides transportation support to individuals who find it difficult to travel independently without assistance. Our highly trained staff will comprehensively assess your travel and transport need before designing a plan to assist you to travel safely and comfortably to and from your destination.
Assist Travel and Transport plan can include
- Assistance to travel to undertake school, work, medical appointments, shopping, or activities.
- Sourcing equipment to assist you to travel independently including visual aids or physical supports such as walkers or frames.
- Providing staff to travel with you to support your mobility needs and offer reassurance.
- Supporting you to learn how to access public transport and plan bus, train or active travel routes.
- Creating structured travel plans and scheduled transport options.
- Developing a emergency plan to seek help should your health present unexpected issues when you are out and about – this may be as simple as learning how to use your Personal emergency Response device or how to call Emergency Services for help

How does the assist travel NDIS work?
The NDIS enhances your ability to travel independently. An NDIS transport support option may include equipment and aids related to personal transportation or training in public transportation.
Is the NDIS able to pay for my travel?
The NDIS can cover the cost of a support worker to assist you to move about in your community, however costs such as road tolls, parking costs, bus or rail tickets are not covered by the NDIS and these costs must be covered by you.
Can transport be based on core supports?
Yes. The NDIS Social and Community Participation Assistance (to enable you to engage in social or recreational activities) supports transportation (if you cannot use public transportation).
What is the travel charge under the NDIS?
As part of your standard claim, an NDIS provider is required to charge travel time. The travel time is flexible and reflects the actual staff travel time - if the staff travel for 10 minutes, your billing will reflect this amount. We do not round up or charge beyond the actual travel time.
